Deputy Director

• Coordination and supervision of the department’s sections.
• Preparation and implementation of the department’s five year strategic plan and budget.
• Preparation and implementation of the department’s annual plan and financial estimates.
• Preparation of the department’s formal, periodic and other reports.
• Preparation and implementation of the department’s risk management framework and  reporting.
• Preparation and implementation of the department’s monitoring and evaluation system.
• Coordination of capacity development for all the department’s staff.
• Development and review of policies and plans for mine information in Somaliland.

Information Office

• Collation, analysis and distribution of data and information relating to mine action, including the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA)
• Preparation of regular reports on mine action activities in Somaliland (currently monthly and yearly).

Quality Assurance Section

• Ensure all mine action activities in Somaliland meet International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).
• Approve standard operating procedures for field teams, ensuring safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
• Train mine action staff in required skills to appropriate standards.
• Plan and undertake quality assurance inspections of all mine clearance and EOD activities in Somaliland and make appropriate reports.
• Test and accredit all mine action organisations working in Somaliland.
• Lead investigations and conduct a Board of Inquiry on every mine or explosive accident or incident.
• Maintain mine action or explosive accident and incident register, records of boards of inquiry and lessons learned.
