The Director General and the Director of Mine Action Department received delegation from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).

The Director General of Ministry of Defence JSL Mr. Mustafe Omar Farah received GICHD a organisation based in Switzerland.Amongst the delegates from GICHD Mr Sarah Njeri and Mr Ajoy Dattu were warmly recieved by the Ministry of Defence with the Department of Mine Action also present in this meeting.

The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) works towards reducing risk to commu­nities caused by explosive ordnance, with a focus on landmines, cluster munitions and ammunition stockpiles. The meeting was fruitful and many topics were discussed such as the risks of the community and the environment of explosive objects and looked at methods to increase the awareness of the community. GICHD will be travelling across regions in Somaliland and will also be meeting other ministerial bodies such as the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
